I began my career in education at UAB as a counselor more than twenty years ago and have been teaching ever since. In addition to English, subjects I have taught include music, art, French, and creative writing. At the college level, I have taught English 101 and, while pursuing my Ph.D. at the University of Alabama, I also taught The History, Philosophy, and Social Foundations of Education, a required course for all education majors. Additionally, I have presented my research in the field of education at numerous refereed national conferences, and I have conducted workshops for English teachers at the district and state level.
As far as my personal life is concerned, I am married and have three amazing children and two cats. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, and creating, but my greatest passion outside of my family is teaching. I am looking forward to a wonderful year as we read, write, and grow together.
