Character Education Abstinent Teen Guest Speaker OPT Out Form

Dear Parent:

We have the opportunity to offer your child an excellent seminar entitled ABSTINENT TEEN.

This program deals with self-esteem, goal setting, and good decision making, particularly regarding sex.

This is SEXUAL RISK AVOIDANCE EDUCATION program.

WE WILL NOT:

·         Tell students sex is bad, wrong, dirty or evil

·         Be judgmental (students are told the choices that they have made in the past can’t be changed, but they can decide to make different future choices based on new information – the choice is theirs)

·         Show pictures of STD’s or STI’s on the genitals.

WE WILL:

·         Tell students that sex is a natural desire, that without sex the human race would not survive

·         Discuss the risk involved with sex outside of a committed marriage relationship: Pregnancy, disease, loss of parental trust, potential emotional and social risk

·         Discuss the difficulties associated with teen pregnancy

·         Explain the different types of STIs (bacterial, viral, & parasitic) as well as how they are transmitted

·         Discuss the risk involved with the “protected sex” option: What condoms will and will not do – according to the latest research by the CDC and NIH.  AT NO TIME are students told NOT to use condoms.  Students are instead asked to consider that the healthiest choice…abstaining from all sexual activity until in a committed marriage relationship

·         Will give students  a strategy for postponing sexual activity until marriage

We endorse this program and feel it will be of great benefit to your child helping him/her to avoid high-risk behaviors and prepare for a bright future.

IF THIS FORM IS NOT RETURNED YOUR CHILD WILL BE EXPECTED TO ATTEND.
